6.16 – Edge Challenge

Objectives:

  • Review goals and plan for the next 8 or 12 weeks
  • Measurements
  • dotFIT software walk-through
  • Convert non-training members into clients
  • Upgrade session frequency for current training clients (ex: 1x week to 2x week)
  • Hand-off to Fitness Manager.

Measurements

  • Circumference measurements, recommend:
    • Chest
    • Upper Arm
    • Waist
    • Hips
    • Thigh
  • Body weight
  • Body fat percentage
  • Why?
    • There is only 1 winner for the $5,000 prize, but you want to show everyone how much progress they made during this process. It builds value in what personal training has to offer and hopefully retains them as a client after the contest.

Review: Non-Training Member

  • What is the member’s goal?
  • What is the plan to reach the goal? Discuss the following:
    • How many times per week will the member come to the gym?
    • What types of workouts are being done (strength, endurance, classes, etc.)?
    • What are the training variables (exercises, sets, reps, etc.)?
    • What are the details of the nutrition plan (calories per day, protein, carbohydrates, fats)?
    • What foods make up those macronutrients?
  • What is needed to get to this goal? Some ideas:
    • Detailed/descriptive training program.
    • Grocery list and/or menu.
    • Food scale to weigh food.
    • Tupperware to store prepared meals.
  • Why?
    • The purpose of this session is to get people to realize that they can’t walk in a gym and expect to reach their goals. Very few people have a plan to accomplish what they want, but they are convinced they can do it alone. The questions you hit these non-training members with should open their eyes, overwhelm them, and get them to see the value in having a coach/trainer, which makes converting them to a client more likely.
    • If someone is able to transform their body alone, then they didn’t set their goals high enough. Don’t get me wrong, people can achieve “pretty good” results on their own, but the best transformations and physiques are achieved through teamwork, and having a coach educate, motivate, and hold you accountable. If someone is going to win $5,000, I promise you it will not be done alone.

Hand-Off

  • Similar to the F1/VFP hand-off we do now with the addition of building hype around winning the Biggest Loser contest.
    • Non-Training Member
      • Hand-off will be done on the 1st session (strategy session) and the 4th session (last session).
      • Non-Training Member Hand-Off Example:
        • “Joe this is Aileen, Aileen this is Joe. Aileen, you’re looking at the winner of the first Biggest Loser contest right here! Joe and I just finished strategizing how he’s going to win this $5,000 prize and all signs point to training with me. The four sessions we have together is a great start, but Joe needs a full nutrition plan, new workout routine, and most importantly, me to hold him accountable to all of it throughout this process. I need to see him twice per week for one-on-one half-hour sessions. I also want Joe taking advantage of our Edge Strong Team Training sessions, and getting into one Strength session and one Burn session each week. I circled those on the Strong schedule for him. Joe, thanks for coming in today! I’ll see you next time.”
    • Training Client
      • Hand-off will be done on the 1st session (strategy session). There are no further sessions given with the Biggest Loser purchase.
      • Training Client Hand-Off Example:
        • “Joe this is Aileen, Aileen this is Joe. Aileen, you’re looking at the winner of the first Biggest Loser contest right here! Joe and I have been training together for some time now, and while Joe has done great with me, we need to put in some overtime to give us the best shot to win this $5,000 prize. Joe is with me once per week for a half-hour, but I want to get him in my schedule twice per week for at least the duration of this contest. Joe, awesome job as usual! I’ll see you in a couple of days.”

Compensation/Benefits

  • Team captain per club to have most finishers wins $250. Tie breaker would be total % of weight loss (show up at kick off and ending night)

How do I create a team?

Trainers build their team from their current clients and prospects. There are referral coupons at a discount to hand out. Additionally:

  • Front desk can assign members to a team
  • Trainer can be requested
  • Minimum of 7 people on their team. Maximum 25

What better way to get clients recommitted to you! Builds future client base and improve retention. A results contest that is driven by YOU! Members will LOVE this experience

Full-time Requirements:

  • Use the dotFIT online software to:
    • Create an account and program for each team member.
    • Create a custom menu for each team member. (put in team member’s folder for kickoff night)
    • Have the supplement recommender printed for each team member. (put in team member’s folder for kickoff night)
  • Measurements written down on the “strategy session” and entered into dotFIT. (Initial complimentary appointment that comes with the purchase of the Biggest Loser challenge).
  • Attend the following events in your home club:
    • (1) Kickoff Event.
    • (3) Every other week Nutrition/Workout Seminars.
    • (1) Ending Ceremony.
  • Use the MealLogger or dotFIT online software to:
    • Monitor all team members’ food & activity logs as often as possible (weekly minimum).
    • Monitor all team members’ activity logs.
  • Email your team members on the following schedule (all emails are to be copied to your fitness manager):
    • Consistent check in/information
      • Twice per week, email your clients checking on their progress and linking to information (article, video, etc.)
    • Event Confirmation
      • Remind your team the every other week workouts/seminars and encourage them to attend.
    • Event Recap
      • Either congratulate them on their attendance and/or progress, or
      • Let them know that you missed them at the event and need to see them there for the next one
  • Testimonials from every finisher – You will choose one to submit for “Best Testimonial”
  • Best Visual Change – You will choose one finisher and submit them for “Best Visual Change”

Value Added Options

  • Grocery shopping trips with your team.
  • Outdoor workouts with your team (ex: run at the beach, hike).
  • Attend Edge Strong sessions with your team.
  • Team outings/gatherings (ex: lunch, dinner).
  • Scheduled team workouts when classes are not in session (hourly rate will be paid.)
  • Team building activities or challenges (ex: come up with a workout that everyone does and score it).
  • Additional team seminars/lectures (ex: address challenges that contestants on your team might be facing).
  • A weekly group email that summarizes the team’s progress.

Part-time:

  • Not required to be a captain
  • If you want to be a captain you must be at every event like full time trainer
  • Attend opening event and closing event
  • If you are not a captain you are responsible for referring 5 clients to a team
